Building the talent, tools, and bridges for an AI-shaped world.

AI Research Corps (AIRC) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit working at the intersection of artificial intelligence, GIS, data science, and public-sector innovation. We design low-barrier, high-impact programs in mentorship, policy, innovation, and open data so learners and professionals can explore, experiment, and grow.

Programs

Our work is organized around four connected programs. The initial pilot for the Mentor & Speaker Series is planned for Jan–Jun 2026.

Mentor & Speaker Series

Structured interviews with professional leaders and innovators across AI, GIS, data science, and public-sector innovation. Each guest is asked a common core set of questions so their stories can be compared and re-used for teaching.

Sessions are recorded and shared via the AIRC website, YouTube, and social media.

Policy Program

Focused on policy research, public comment, and consortium-building around responsible and inclusive AI adoption. Students and volunteers contribute to research sprints, comment letters, and practical guidance.

Details and pilot projects: coming soon.

Innovation Program

Coding projects, pilots, hackathons, and student challenges that use real-world datasets and open tools. This is where we prototype ideas, test pilots, and share open-source examples.

Includes collaborations with professionals, students, and partner organizations.

Open Data Program

A curated collection of large, well-documented datasets made available for learners, professionals, and researchers. Designed to support coursework, independent research, and portfolio-building.

Paired with example notebooks, explainers, and interactive apps.

Open Data & Apps

AIRC hosts interactive tools and examples built with open data. These are implemented using Streamlit and related open-source libraries.

Open Data Explorer

Browse and filter large datasets curated by AIRC. Designed for students and practitioners who want to explore data without needing to install anything locally.

Innovation Demos

Prototype tools showcasing geospatial analytics, AI-assisted workflows, and civic-tech use cases. Ideal for workshops, hackathons, and student projects.

Library & Publications

All long-form content is published using MyST (Markedly Structured Text) to keep reports, briefs, and event notes consistent and easy to reuse.

Policy Notes

Short, accessible explainers and public comments on AI, data governance, and related topics. Written to bridge technical and non-technical audiences.

Events

GIS Day 2025 @ Cabrillo National Monument (with Ecologik)

Planning is underway for our second GIS Day in collaboration with Ecologik. This year’s event will be hosted online, tentatively on a Sunday in mid-to-late November (e.g., 11/16 or 11/23).

The event will feature live talks, student and volunteer projects, and demonstrations of open tools for geospatial and AI-driven analysis.

If you are interested in attending, presenting, or supporting the event, please reach out using the contact information below.

Board & Volunteers

AIRC is powered by a small board, a growing network of volunteers, and mentors who contribute their time and expertise.
